Since breaking into the K-pop scene, STAYC has been captivating audiences' hearts with their bewitching charm and undeniable talent. Consisting of six members, Sieun, Sumin, ISA, Seeun, Yoon, and J, STAYC quickly distinguished itself with a refreshing musical style and captivating stage performances. As they prepare to make their long-awaited debut in Paris, the city of love and lights, we had the exclusive opportunity to speak with the group before this long-awaited first concert.
In this interview, let's dive into the vibrant and dynamic universe of STAYC at the dawn of this new career stage, already enchanting French fans with their charismatic presence and captivating music.
KRM – Hello to everyone ! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer our questions. In a few days you will be back in Europe for your first European tour. How do you feel ?
Sieun - I’m really excited because it’s our first European tour! There are so many countries that I will visit for the first time. I am really curious to discover the atmosphere and culture of each country. I want to make lots of happy memories!
Seeun – I'm really excited! I can’t wait to see how passionate the European fans are!
KRM – You had the chance to meet, for the first time, some of your European fans during your performance at the KOREA ON STAGE festival in London on November 8. What memory(s) do you have from that day?
Sumin – The strongest memory I have is when everyone started singing along when we performed the song “WANNABE” by the Spice Girls. I really loved this performance!
J – I still remember it perfectly because it was the first time we performed in London. Even though this was STAYC's first time, I felt like a lot of sweet people were there for us...Waiting for us! I was really touched to see the London fans applauding us with so much passion!
KRM – Your first world tour began on September 23, and you have already been able to perform in Asia and the United States. How did you prepare for this first world tour? As a final step, should Europe expect any surprises from you?
ISA – We were very busy preparing and had very little time after promotions, but we still took the time to work and think passionately for each concert. So we have prepared special covers for each city. In Europe, we plan to perform “Flexing on my ex” as well as a song that we only do live. I think you’ll be surprised because it’s a song we’re performing for the first time!
Yoon – As this is the last part of the tour, we have prepared a special performance of the song “Fancy” (TWICE), version 2024, which will be released on Spotify on March 15! We're going to record it during the European tour. It’s sad that it’s already the end of the tour, but we’re going to give our best to enjoy it with our European fans!
KRM – When STAYC started in September 2020, did you think you would be able to go on a world tour after three years of career?
Sumin – I didn’t really think about it three years ago, but it was something I really wanted to do!
ISA – To be honest, I didn't know when I would be able to do it, but it's something I wanted to do so much... And I thought, above all, that I had to do it! So I did everything to be able to do it as quickly as possible.
KRM – A career in the music industry is a dream for many people, but it is also a difficult environment where competition is tough. What made you hold on to this dream and get into the music business?
Sieun – I've loved music since I was young, and thanks to the messages of support and strength I received from other artists in the music world, I told myself that, one day, I wanted to be able to give strength and comfort to my audience through my music. I want to continue to be a positive influence through music!
Yoon – I went to a dancing and singing school with a friend. Initially, I went there without dreaming of becoming an idol, but the more I learned to dance and sing, the more I wanted it. Then I auditioned for High Up... But I didn't receive any responses, so I thought I wasn't taken. I was about to give up when, a year later, I received a call and I was able to start my life as a trainee for the first time!
KRM – And if you had one piece of advice for someone who wants to succeed in this industry, what would it be?
Seeun – I would like to tell him that if you put all your sincerity into the music you want, and you are happy, then there will definitely be people who will recognize your value!
J – I think enjoying, having fun and never giving up will help you do this job for a long time!
KRM – Let’s come back to this first world tour and your first French date. Are you looking forward to meeting your French fans?
Seeun – I can not wait to be there ! It’s really a moment I’ve been waiting for so I’m really very happy!
J – Thanks to London, Europe is such a good memory for me that I wanted to return there soon. When I learned that there was going to be a concert in France, I was really happy and I wanted to be there as quickly as possible!
KRM – Have you ever been to Paris? If so, what memory(s) did you have of it? If not, what are the places you dream of visiting? What does Paris inspire you?
Sieun – This is going to be my first time visiting Paris! I really want to visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and go shopping! It’s a city I’ve always wanted to visit, it’s romantic and artistic. The buildings and architecture are really unique and pretty!
Yoon – It’s going to be my first time in Paris! I think I really want to see the Eiffel Tower in person. It’s so famous that I want to see it for myself!
KRM – To conclude this interview, do you have a message to send to your fans and to the people who will discover you through this article?
Sumin – Thanks for joining us on this first European tour! Please give us lots of love for future STAYC music!
